Apr 11, 2009: temporary: page creation disabled

We are temporarily allowing only sysops or beaurocrats to create pages. This limit will be removed in a while. It's a reaction to a singular spam attack from the Brown university. Anybody needing to create a page can contact me any time --NIL 10:32, 11 April 2009 (MEST).

We changed the logo for vcor: three circles meet to create intersections, from the intersections vcor takes shape. It should point abstractely to the collaborative nature of vcor, borne out of our three main sections: VectorWorks, VectorScript and Third party developers. The brakets label our project as wiki. In vcor or any other mediawiki project a link is created through brakets: [[some page]].

This is still a temporary image. Please comment it or propose a better one.

Feb 04, 2007: AppleScript URL

Support for the AppleScript URL protocol has been enabled on vcor. This protocol comes in this form: applescript://

A new extension allows AppleScript snippets to be downloaded on click. The embedded AppleScript code will be automatically transferred to the Script Editor application and either placed in a new script window, inserted into the front window at the current insertion point, or appended to the end of the script in the front window.

If you wish your AppleScript to be downloadable you must wrap the script in the Loader tag:

<loader type=applescript>
return path to me
</syntaxhighlight>
<loader type=applescript geshi=true>return path to me</syntaxhighlight>

Only Mac users benefit from this extension. But we like it, do we... :).

Check the scripts listed on Category:Examples - AppleScript for seeing this in action.

Jan 22, 2007: Captchas

Captchas have been enabled on vcor as additional spam prevention: images displaying simple mathematical questions will interrupt certain actions and eventually prevent further proceeding. It is something like 1+2= ?. I took care to make it something within my bounds...

Triggering actions:

Create account
for all new users.
Insert links
for anonymous users.

With the current configuration registered users will not ever get to see the captchas. Should this be insufficient, further restrictions will be enabled.

Captchas are questionable because of the limits they pose to sight impaired users. Due to the nature of this wiki, dedicated to a CAD software, a very visual piece of software, I can trust the risk of excluding "good" users is very remote. Should this nevertheless be the case, please mail to NIL for requesting an exception.

Please report eventual inconveniences due to this addition.

Jan 20, 2007: Edit bar

The edit bar has been expanded:

Edit bar.png
  • Button strike.png shortcut for striked through text tagging
  • Button table.png shortcut for table tagging
  • Button category.png shortcut for category tagging
  • Button code.png shortcut for inline code (code) tagging
  • Button pre.png shortcut for block code (pre) tagging
  • Button vss code.png shortcut for inline VectorScript tagging (code=vss) This will highlight!
  • Button vss pre.png shortcut for block VectorScript tagging (pre=vss) This will highlight!
  • Button as code.png shortcut for inline AppleScript tagging (code=applescript) This will highlight!
  • Button as pre.png shortcut for block AppleScript tagging (pre=applescript) (loader=applescript geshi=true) This will highlight!

I'm not happy with the look of the buttons. I'd love if someone would care for improving them. You can access the buttons clicking on them in the list above.

Editing the buttons on vcor will not change the edit tab. The buttons are coded into the mediaWiki software and are not accessable publicily. But if you come up with a nice solution I'll be glad to change the defaults.

Use this Button empty.png empty button for your experiments.

Note
you might need to reset the cache of your pages in order to display the new icons:
Safari
(mac)⌥⌘E
Mozilla
hold down Shift while clicking Reload (or press Ctrl-Shift-R)
Internet Explorer
press Ctrl-F5
Opera/Konqueror
press F5.

Jan 16, 2007: Antispam

The antispam features have been enabled on vcor. If you experience problems using certain words please report to NIL.

Spam must be removed. If you notice that a page is beeing spammed escaping the current antispam settings please do revert the content to a clean version. Do not let this criminals go along with it. A sysop will take care for adding the new spammers to the black list as soon as possible.

--NIL 20:53, 15 January 2007 (PST)

Spam attack begins always with a row of random numbers. A little time later the attack begins. Now this shouldn't happen any longer. That is blocked as well. Should you experience problems due to this limitation, please report to User:NIL/Requests

Jan 15, 2007: NNA namespace

The namespace "NNA" has been created. In the next days pages containing original documentation from Nemetschek North America will be moved to this namespace.

Only users belonging to the group "nsNNARW" will be able to create and modify pages in the namespace NNA. This limit do not apply to reading and viewing the code. Every user can include the pages belonging to NNA in their own articles to provide citations and references.

If you are a member of NNA you can request your user name to be added to the group "nsNNARW". Please ask a sysop to include your user name to this group.

Jan 07, 2007: To Do

The following is planned in the close future:

  1. Upgrade vcor's engine to MediaWiki 1.8.2: enhanced security and many more options.
  2. Install the following extensions:
    • GeSHi HighLight: syntax highlight for VectorScript code.
    • DynamicPageList: create dynamically generated lists
    • Semantic MediaWiki: turn MediaWiki content into a searchable database.
    • Customized CSS files for optimized display and code reduction.
  3. New structure and content:
    • A new namespace for NNA: this will allow special rights to be given to certain pages: VectorScript routine definitions, Object Types definitions, Preference Flags definitions. The content related to these pages will be included dynamically on the publicly accessible pages but will not be modifiable. The option to comment upon them remains free and completely unconstrained. The discussion (talk) pages allow further exchange between users.
    • The whole navigation of vcor has been reworked. The site will be comfortably navigable.
    • Customized buttons in the edit pane will allow users to bother less about wiki syntax.
    • Wikify Service. Users uncomfortable with wiki-syntax can request a wiki-clean up.

Further the following is planned:

  1. Creation of a MediaWiki extension that will allow users to dynamically download lists of Preference Flags, Object Types, VectorScript Routines as generated files, always at the latest stand, in the following formats:
    • tabbed txt
    • loose xml
    • FileMaker xml import files
